Over a year ago MateFrio wrote that his 6 year old son was, with him, highly interested in robotics. He wanted suggestions for a $100 kit. That was his only post, and apparently he has never been back. Do you ever follow up with people like that and point out how much new help he might get by returning to your site?
Look at what your one email to me about this promotion has caused me to do. I only want to see a lot more information and a lot less "Cool, Dude!" posts. That's what will keep me coming back. I once wrote copy for photo magazines and catalogs. We created in house material to educate and motivate casual photographers. We were in the business of selling camera equipment, processing, and film. You are in the business of creating interest in both your forum and robotics in general. You want to sell hardware, books, and software. You need people to get real information and help by coming to this forum. Don't expect all of it to be provided by outsiders. When MateFrio asked about a $100 kit his kid would enjoy and remain interested the only reply suggested he search ebay. Had I been with your company I would have suggested Legos Mindstorms, some bugbots, other kits. Then there are parts. How about a project to modify a Power Rangers Megazord into an autonomous robot? Catch my drift? |
