I don't think Pleo uses old school push button skin sensor arrays. The problem with these switches is that if you engage in touching, rubbing, or pulling the robot, you have no idea where the button is beneath the skin. So you could miss the button... This obviously wouldn't be good or work well for a skinned robot. From the look of the video, it looked as if Pleo was running on either a Magnetic Halls type sensor switch, or a Capacitive Switch. I dont know. I would like to know which type of sensors he uses. Anyone know (or have a good guess) about what he might be using? I would like to experiment with the idea of skin sensors under a silicone skinned robot that dont rely on push buttons. Besides! Push buttons are noisy and often require force. Something that could damage the skin.
