Two decades ago I worked in R&D with some scientists the US recruited after WWII from the rocket projects in Nazi Germany. In development projects you frequently find there is nothing that will meet your plans and wishes. I often found solutions in the most unlikely places, substituting semi-polished cones for concentrating lenses, LEDs for incandescent bulbs, etc., where these scientists pontificated that it would never work.

At the end of the project they confided they had never met any scientist who could manufacture solutions out of whole cloth like I did. The key was not myself, but asking the question, "What has the slightest possibility of working?" Don't let anyone tell you a part won't work. Your imagination might make it work in ways the critics never imagined.
