Electrolux Trilobite.

This unit is not only resembles a trilobite but really does a great job on cleaning. It has larger motors and a much more powerful vacuum system. The two problems we have with the unit are:
1. You have to lay a magnetic strip across the threshold of a room you do not want it to enter or put it under the carpet(which could be very unrealistic if you are not using a throw rug). This is no where near the elegant solution that the Roomba units provide. The Roomba has available portable IR Transmitters that send a beam across the threshold and tells the Roomba not to crossover. By having the portability of the IR Transmitters you can then move them to another room to be cleaned.

2. Unless you confine the trilobite to room, it seemed to miss the docking station. When we let the unit go around the house and clean it would always end up in another section of the house dead. The reason that happened is we did not lay down the magnetic strips (for we think this is a real pain to do this every time you want to clean) even the portable IR transmitters would be a hardship. When the unit is first turned on it does a wall mapping of the room and then cleans the room it is confined to. It remembers where the docking station is for it remembers where it left the docking station when it first started cleaning. By us letting it go around the house to clean, it basically got lost.

Once we confined the unit to a room we had no problem and it worked perfectly, cleaning was outstanding. As I said you can easily see how much dirt and dust it collected by looking at the filter and dust collector. Warning, Do not be shocked as you look at it for you will see how much dust and dirt it collected even from a carpet that had just been vacuumed.
