P8ntballbot posted his adaptation of a Power Wheels vehicle to radio control. What a great starter for a robotics project! These vehicles, used, go for pocket change at yard sales, yet they are durable and powerful.

Why not get a lot of forum brains busy modding these things and posting their mods on this forum. Parts could be specified and duplicated by others. We could settle on a processor base and design all the interfaces and software routines to be publicly shared. What obsolete equipment can be scavanged to build these robots? What about an old 586 computer running Linux as a CPU base. These go for a few bucks or even free all over the country. I see a great project here for any real robotics experimenters to put our collective heads together and make something great. We might even get a TV show from the guys at Mythbusters like they did for VEX.

Hey moderator, can this topic be promoted to its own heading under educational robots?
